FOAM FIRE EXTINGUISHER
Also known as an AFFF (aqueous film-forming foam) extinguisher, as it uses a mixture of water and foam concentrate to create a blanket of foam that smothers the fire and prevents oxygen from reaching it, thereby putting out the fire.
Foam fire extinguishers are effective against Class A fires (fires involving ordinary combustibles such as wood, paper, and cloth) and Class B fires (fires involving flammable liquids such as gasoline, oil, and grease). They are not suitable for use on electrical fires (Class C fires) or fires involving metals (Class D fires).
